Toronto Raptors (-7.5) vs Houston Rockets

The Raptors lost to the Miami Heat on Wednesday night, but should bounce back against a Rockets team on a nine-game losing streak.

After a mild resurgence towards the end of January, Houston has struggled badly this month. The Rockets are now 14th in the Western Conference, they rank 23rd in the NBA in net rating, and six of their last nine games have been double-digit losses.

The Raptors have won four of their last six and currently rank ninth in the NBA in net rating, which suggests they’re better than their 16-17 record implies.

Detroit Pistons (+1) vs Sacramento Kings

The Pistons are the worst team in the Eastern Conference, but Friday night’s home game against the Kings looks a rare opportunity to bet on Dwane Casey’s team.

Sacramento has lost nine straight, all by a margin of at least eight points, and it ranks 27th in net rating while Detroit is 24th.

The Pistons have been terrible in away games this season but their home record is a more respectable 6-8, while the Kings are 5-9 on the road.

Golden State Warriors (-6) vs Charlotte Hornets

The Warriors have won six of their last nine games to move to seventh in the Western Conference. They currently have the league’s fourth best defense and – in Steph Curry – its second-highest scorer.

Golden State is 11-6 at home this season, a better record than all but three teams in the West, and they now face a Hornets team that is 6-8 on the road.

Charlotte has gone .500 over its past five games and narrowly beat the Warriors – who were missing Curry through illness – 102-100 last Saturday. With Curry healthy again, expect the Warriors to reverse that result on Friday.

Portland Trail Blazers (+5.5) vs Los Angeles Lakers

After a hot start to the season the Lakers have hit a rough patch with star power forward Anthony Davis out with an Achilles injury.

Los Angeles has lost four games in a row, the most recent of which was a 114-89 rout against the Jazz in Utah on Wednesday night.

The Trail Blazers have lost three straight but remain fifth in the West having won eight of their last 12, and they should at least keep this one close given the Lakers’ recent struggles.
