Washington Wizards (+6) vs Philadelphia 76ers

The 76ers cruised to a 3-0 lead in this series but dropped Game 4 122-114 in Washington as Joel Embiid suffered a knee injury and played just 11 minutes.

With Embiid listed as doubtful for Game 5 in Philadephia, it’s worth backing the Wizards to at least keep this one close.

Russell Westbrook has shot poorly for Washington throughout this series but does so much else for this team. He put up 14 assists and an incredible 21 rebounds in Game 4 while going just 3-for-19 from the field, and if he can be just a bit more efficient the Wizards will have a good chance here.

It’s worth remembering that the Wizards’ playoff chances looked bleak at the halfway point in the season before they went 17-6 over their last 23 games. Washington has a lot of heart and will make this very difficult for the 76ers if Embiid is out or limited.

Atlanta Hawks (+1.5) vs New York Knicks

After splitting the first two games in New York, Atlanta took full control of this series with back-to-back home wins to go up 3-1.

The Hawks ranked eighth in the NBA in offensive rating during the regular season, but it’s their defense that has shone in this series. They’ve held the Knicks under 97 points in each of the last two games.

The Hawks have also limited Julius Randle to 15 points or fewer in three of the four games so far, while star point guard Trae Young has shone for Atlanta, averaging 27.5 points and 10 assists.

Having won seven of their last eight games of the regular season, it’s no surprise that the Hawks have looked the better team throughout this series, and they look likely to finish the job in Game 5.

Utah Jazz (-9.5) vs Memphis Grizzlies

Utah has won three games in a row to go up 3-1 in this series, and the West’s No.1 seed now has the chance to advance at home in Game 5.

The Jazz’s 31-5 home record was the best in the NBA in the regular season, and they have looked like the best team in the West since Donovan Mitchell came back into the line-up from injury in Game 2.

Mitchell’s return from injury has made the Jazz’s offense look almost unstoppable. They’ve scored at least 120 points in their last three wins, including a 141-129 victory at home in Game 2.

They’re also 3-0 against the spread in the last three games, and although the Grizzlies have done well to keep this series competitive throughout it’s hard to see them keeping this game within single digits on the road.

Los Angeles Clippers (-7) vs Dallas Mavericks

The Clippers lost the first two games of this series at home but have bounced back dramatically, winning Game 3 118-108 before blowing out the Mavericks 106-81 in Game 4.

This series is starting to look a lot like the first round of last year’s playoffs, when the Clippers started slowly against Dallas but dominated late in the series to ultimately advance in six games.

The Mavericks are reliant on the brilliance of Luka Doncic but he struggled with a neck injury in Game 4, putting up just 19 points on 9-of-24 shooting.

After shooting over 50 per cent from three-point range over the first three games of the series, Dallas made just five of 30 shots from beyond the arc in Game 4, and that regression bodes poorly for their chances in LA on Wednesday.
