Amir Khan’s announced return to the ring in January came with a proclamation from promoter Eddie Hearn: “The King is back.”

It’s true that Khan is still one of the biggest stars in British boxing, but, in truth, he hasn’t been the king of the welterweight division – or any division – for a long time.

With four career defeats to his name – the last a one-punch knockout by Canelo Alvarez in May 2016 – the former world champion has some work to do to climb back up the ranks.

He can take his first step towards that by beating Lo Greco in Liverpool on Saturday night, which he should do comfortably.

The Canadian is a brawler who will come forward and be easy to hit. While he’s only lost three times, they all came in his last six fights against opponents of similar quality to Khan.

Shawn Porter and Joseph Elegele both beat the 33-year-old on points, while current IBF world champion Errol Spence took him out in three rounds.

Assuming Khan has still got the ability to fight at the top level, it’s safe to say Saturday night won’t see an upset like James DeGale suffered against Caleb Truax last year.

Unlike DeGale, Khan is going to be completely motivated to win this comeback fight, particularly after Truax's trash talking in January's press conference.

The Brit’s last four wins have all come by decision, and another victory on points is the best bet this time around.
