Callum Smith v Nieky Holzken

This is the second semi-final of the World Boxing Super Series, with the winner setting up a massive fight against George Groves in the final.

WBC Diamond champion Smith’s chances of advancing increased massively this week when former world titlist Juergen Braehmer pulled out through illness and was replaced by Holzken.

The Dutch former kickboxing champion has plenty of fighting experience in other disciplines, but has only had 13 professional boxing bouts, 12 of them in his home country.

Holzken is undefeated, but none of his past opponents are anywhere near Smith’s level. Only one of them even has their own Wikipedia page.

The Liverpudlian is a different proposition entirely.

He’s unbeaten in 23 bouts, has held British and European titles and would have fought Andre Dirrell for the WBC belt prior to this tournament had negotiations not broken down.

At 6ft 3in, Smith towered over Holzken when they squared up for the first time this week and is also seven years younger than the 34-year-old.

He’s going to win this fight, and he’s probably going to do so very early on.

Smith has knocked out 17 opponents to date – 13 of those inside three rounds and 10 in the first – and he shouldn’t have any trouble putting away Holzken, who’s a brawler that will look to stand toe-to-toe.

Holzken has been stopped four times in his kickboxing career, and a KO defeat for the Dutchman in the first three rounds – at our boosted price of – is the best bet on Saturday night.
