Usyk v Chisora odds

Heavyweight boxing returns to Wembley Arena on Saturday night as Oleksandr Usyk takes on Dereck Chisora.

This is former undisputed cruiserweight champion Usyk’s second fight at heavyweight after he vacated the five titles he won by knocking out Tony Bellew in November 2018.

The Ukrainian beat journeyman Chazz Witherspoon in his heavyweight debut last October as the American retired on his stool at the end of the seventh round.

Usyk is the mandatory challenger for Anthony Joshua’s WBO title, and he will get his shot at the belt if he sees off British favourite Chisora on Saturday.

‘Del Boy’ last fought in October 2019, stopping David Price in four rounds to claim his third successive victory.

Chisora now has a 32-9 professional record, but while he has earned some impressive victories over opponents like Price and Carlos Takam in the past few years, he has consistently faltered against top fighters, including Dillian Whyte (twice) and Kubrat Pulev.

The Zimbabwe-born Brit is to cause an upset this weekend, while Usyk is the favourite.

Chisora has been a great fighter over the years, but he’s always lacked the star quality to get past truly elite opponents.

Tyson Fury comfortably beat him back in 2011 and again in a 2014 rematch, while David Haye scored an emphatic fifth-round TKO win when he and Chisora met in July 2012.

Chisora battled gamely against Vitali Klitschko in February of that same year but ultimately lost a clear points decision.

Nobody in the heavyweight division is tougher than Chisora, but this looks to be another fight where he will struggle to overcome a clear skill disadvantage.

Usyk is simply a phenomenal all-round fighter, with high ring IQ and seemingly endless stamina.

The 33-year-old’s record of 13 knockouts in 17 fights shows he has solid power – which admittedly may take a hit at heavyweight – and he has been able to overwhelm top cruiserweight opponents through the volume of his punches alone.

While Usyk may not have the power to knock Chisora out with a single shot, the 36-year-old will likely take a lot of damage from a fighter as accurate and active as Usyk.

A late stoppage win for the Ukranian looks the best bet, setting up a possible showdown with Joshua next year.
