Jack Green makes his prediction for Saturday night's heavyweight main event, which takes place at Matchroom Fight Camp.

Whyte v Povetkin odds

The biggest fight since British boxing’s return takes place on Saturday night as Dillian Whyte faces Alexander Povetkin at the Matchroom Fight Camp.

Whyte’s WBC interim heavyweight belt will be at stake as the Brixton man continues to work towards a shot at a world title.

It has been eight months since the 32-year-old’s last fight, when he laboured to a unanimous decision win against Marius Wach in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia.

Whyte was unimpressive in that bout but is the 1/4 favourite to win on Saturday night.

Povetkin’s last fight came on the undercard of Whyte v Wach. He fought American Michael Hunter and eked out a rather fortunate draw, having been clinging on in the final few rounds.

The Russian is an 11/4 underdog against Whyte and must vastly improve upon last fight to have any chance of winning this weekend.

Whyte v Povetkin prediction

The outcome of this fight may depend on the condition in which Whyte enters the ring.

‘The Bodysnatcher’ looked out of shape following a long lay-off when he fought Wach, and it clearly took a toll on his performance.

With plenty of notice ahead of this bout, however, he should be back to his best and will be very difficult for Povetkin to handle if that’s the case.

The Russian is a very good fighter and has only been beaten by Wladimir Klitschko and Anthony Joshua in his 38-fight career, so he won’t be a pushover.

But while he has 24 knockout wins to his name, Povetkin isn’t a big puncher and has just one stoppage win in his last six bouts.

Expect these two durable fighters to go the distance, with Whyte getting the nod from the judges in Eddie Hearn’s backyard.

Whyte to win by decision 7/5
