With its culture, world renowned bars and restaurants and iconic landmarks, it’s no surprise that London was top of the list. Boasting over 125m TikTok views, two million Instagram hashtags and a Google demand of 100, the capital came out on top as the most desirable city break location with an overall index of three. As well as tourist hotspots, London offers just about everything from fun shopping trips to sprawling parks. 

If you’re looking to take a trip up north, Liverpool may be the place for you. Famous for its unique accents, friendly locals, and musical talent such as The Beatles, the city placed second after securing an overall index of eight. Glasgow, Edinburgh and Belfast nabbed joint third place, while Manchester placed fourth for its eclectic range of restaurants, bars, shops, galleries and museums. 

York and Birmingham completed the top five with a joint index score of 22. The historic city of York offers a range of quaint buildings, including old-fashioned sweet shops and bakeries, while Birmingham is home to the Bull Ring, museums and the UK’s oldest cinema. Cardiff and Leeds - two cities boasting bustling streets and lively nightlife - secured a joint overall index of 23, with over 12m TikTok views combined.
