England to win

England are the favourites coming into the tournament and should get their campaign started with a win at The Oval.

They ruthlessly dispatched Afghanistan at same ground in their final warm-up and, while South Africa are far more formidable opponents, it’s hard to see past an England win.

Jason Roy to score over 32.5 runs

England’s opener comes into the tournament in scintillating form, with his last five scores reading 87, 76, 114, 32 and 89*.

The 28-year-old’s swashbuckling style has been a feature at the top of the England order since their dismal 2015 campaign, and he will be key to their success this time round.

Jofra Archer to take over 1.5 wickets

The inclusion of paceman Archer has been the story of England’s build-up to the World Cup and he has not disappointed so far.

Eight wickets in five international matches illustrate Archer’s impact and, having taken three of those at The Oval against Afghanistan on Monday, he is a good bet to add a couple more to that tally.
