Here are Guy Giles' cricket betting tips for the match between New Zealand v Sri Lanka, which starts at 10:30 GMT on Saturday.

Kane Williamson to score 50+ runs

The New Zealand captain is in supreme form coming into the World Cup, hitting 67 and 85 in their warm-up matches against India and the Windies.

He is a good bet to continue that run of half-centuries against a weak Sri Lanka bowling attack lacking any real stars.

Kusal Mendis to score over 24.5 runs

If Sri Lanka are to have any chance of beating New Zealand on Saturday then star batsman Mendis must perform.

Scores of 66, 37 and 24 in his three matches before the tournament suggest he is in decent enough nick to reach this mark in their opener.

Trent Boult to take over 2.5 wickets

Boult topped the wicket-taking charts at the last World Cup with 22 alongside Australia’s Mitchell Starc.

The 29-year-old has taken more ODI wickets than any other fast bowler since then, and could rip through this Sri Lanka side if conditions are right in Cardiff.
