Joe Root to score over 34.5 runs –

With batting conditions at Durham unlikely to be anywhere near as favourable as those at Trent Bridge on Tuesday, it makes sense to back England’s most adaptable batsman to impress.

Three of Root’s five ODI half-centuries in 2018 have come when three of the top six have been dismissed for single figures, while he hasn’t dipped below this mark in three consecutive ODI innings since June 2016.

That trend shouldn’t end here.

Alex Hales to score under 20.5 runs –

Hales blasted a sensational 147 at Trent Bridge on Tuesday, but has followed both of his two previous home ODI centuries with a single-figure score.

Three of his last four half-centuries have also been backed up with a score shy of 10, so it’s well worth backing him to fall short of anything over 20 at Durham.

Adil Rashid to take over 1.5 wickets –

Rashid moved clear at the top of the wicket-taking charts for the series with a four-fer at Trent Bridge.

Australia are dealing with his excellent mystery spin increasingly badly, so it’s hard to imagine him not enjoying his day on a ground where he has already taken four wickets in a 50-over match for Yorkshire this season.

Moeen Ali to take over 0.5 wickets –

Though a more mechanical operator than Rashid, Moeen has also enjoyed plenty of bowling success in this series.

The 31-year-old has taken eight wickets across the three matches – including at least two in all of them – so is a very safe addition to this bet.
