Jimmy Anderson to be England’s top 1st innings wicket-taker –

In a samey, impotent bowling attack, Anderson is the bowler who regularly threatens most.

The 35-year-old was the leading wicket-taker in the first innings of the first Test, and has at least tied as top wicket-taker in four of the visitor’s eight bowling innings this winter.

Economy rate is the deciding factor in the result of a tie, which is good news for Anderson. His is comfortably the best of any England bowler since the start of the Ashes in that department.

Trent Boult to be New Zealand’s top 1st innings wicket-taker –

Boult got off to a flyer in both innings in the first Test by exploiting Alastair Cook’s weakness against left-arm pace.

That trend should continue in this match, and will ensure that the 28-year-old makes it two from two in this market.

Ben Stokes to score a half-century in the match

Stokes has passed 50 in four of his last five Test innings, including a 66 in the second innings of the first Test.

The 26-year-old has England’s second-best Test average since the start of 2017, so is a great bet to maintain his consistent form in this match.
