England to win

England’s poor performance at Trent Bridge is far from unusual, but rarely do they underperform in consecutive matches.

The hosts have responded to their last 11 home defeats with a victory in their next home Test, and have not lost back-to back matches on these shores for 10 years.

Keaton Jennings first innings runs: Over 20.5

Though Jennings is short of runs, there is value in backing him to pass this mark in the first innings.

The 26-year-old has reached at least 20 in his first knock of three of his four Tests this summer, and hit a morale-boosting 46 in Lancashire’s T20 Blast quarter-final at Kent last week.

KL Rahul first innings runs: Under 23.5

Even when England failed to make their mark with the new ball, Rahul could only manage 23 in the last Test.

Having scored eight and 10 in the previous match at Lord’s, he could struggle against what will surely be an improvement from Jimmy Anderson and Stuart Broad.

Jasprit Bumrah match wickets: Over 3.5

Bumrah ended England’s second-innings resistance at Trent Bridge, dismissing Jos Buttler, Chris Woakes and Ben Stokes in quick succession to secure the victory for India.

His unusual action and good pace will continue to cause Joe Root’s side problems, so at least four wickets in the match is realistic.
