Sri Lanka to win

This is a massive price for a Sri Lanka side that are in excellent form at home to take down a team that have been poor tourists over a long period of time.

The hosts have won all of their last eight home Tests against non-subcontinental sides, and should be spurred on further by the emotion of it being Rangana Herath’s final Test match.

England have won just one of their last 15 Tests overseas, losing 11 of them. They are also hopelessly underprepared, managing just three days of warm-up cricket ahead of this series.

England top batsman in the match: Joe Root

Root is the one England batsman in notably good nick, backing up a one-day series in which he acclimatised to conditions with a 100* in last week’s warm-up game.

The skipper is a classy player of spin, and is best placed to score heavily for the tourists in this series.

Man of the match: Rangana Herath

Herath – who will retire from international cricket after this match – only needs to be among the best performers to scoop this award.

You can imagine that some effort will be made to reward the outgoing legend should he contribute to this match in a positive way, while he did win this prize in two of those eight aforementioned wins against non-subcontinental sides.
