Upul Tharanga to score under 26.5 runs

The first ODI of the series was washed out on Wednesday and rain is likely to play a big part again here, so your best bet is to stick with opening batsmen when batting on this match.

Tharanga has only passed this mark in three of his last 10 ODIs that weren’t against Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Zimbabwe.

Jason Roy to score over 25.5 runs

Roy looked in good nick in hitting 24 before the rain arrived in the first ODI.

He had passed this mark in seven of his previous nine ODI innings, so backing him to score those extra two runs is sensible, given that he will get the majority of them while pace – which he favours – is being bowled.

Man of the match: Joe Root

The slow conditions are likely to suit Root best of all the England batsmen.

The Test captain is the most adaptable player in the line-up, and is a strong player of spin, as opposed to other top-order players who relish pace on the ball.

Should he anchor the visitors’ innings – as he did when scoring centuries in both of his last two completed ODIs – then this award could be his.
