Rory Burns to score a 50 in either innings

Burns has made an accomplished start to his Test career, finally hitting the half-century he had previously threatened in the second innings of the last match.

Having scored 43 in the first innings of that game, he is a great bet to reach 50 in either innings of this Test.

Joe Root to score over 69.5 match runs

Having hit a century in two of his last three Tests, including in the most recent, it’s fair to say that Root has rediscovered his best form in this format.

Even if he doesn’t reach three figures, the skipper should now have rediscovered the trademark consistency that can see him reach this mark.

Angelo Mathews to score over 49.5 match runs

Having scored 52, 53 and 88 in four innings in this series so far, Mathews is an obvious bet to pass his mark again.

The former Sri Lanka captain is evidently still their best batsman, having passed 50 match runs in eight of his last 12 Tests.

Moeen Ali and Jack Leach to take 10+ wickets combined

Moeen and Leach have accounted for 27 wickets in the first two Tests, so are easily capable of contributing another 10 between them.

England have left out a fast bowler for a batsman here, suggesting that spin will dominate even more.

Just two of 15 wickets fell to pace when Sri Lanka hosted South Africa on this ground in July, with left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj taking a first-innings nine-fer.
