England to win

England’s record in home ODIs over recent years has been exceptional, winning 14 of their last 18 matches.

They particularly enjoy playing in this format at Old Trafford, where they have won eight of their last 10.

Australia to have the highest opening partnership

England welcome Jason Roy back to the top of the order after injury but he is likely to need time to find some form, having passed 30 just once in his previous six ODI innings.

David Warner and Aaron Finch, meanwhile, have just played three T20s together, including an opening stand of 98 in the first match.

Jonny Bairstow to hit a six

Bairstow seemed to find some form in Tuesday’s final T20 against Australia, so is a nice bet to hit at least one six in this match.

He has cleared the ropes on four of the last six occasions that he has passed 20 in an ODI, so if he bats for any decent length of time is bound to do so again.

Steve Smith to score 50+

Smith hit a 50 in his last ODI against England during last year’s World Cup, and can extend his excellent record on these shores here.

He passed 50 in six of his seven innings in last summer’s Ashes and it’s hard to imagine he isn’t going to enjoy plenty of success in this series.
