Dawid Malan to score over 21.5 runs in the first innings

Malan was one of the few England batters to put up any resistance in the first Test, scoring 82 in the second innings to give the tourists a chance of saving the game.

The 34-year-old has passed this low mark in three of his last five first-innings efforts in Test cricket.

Marnus Labuschagne to score 50+ runs in the first innings

Labuschagne’s incredible run of first-innings scores continued in the first Test with an important 74.

He currently averages over 60 in Test cricket, and has scored at least a half-century in eight of his last 10 first innings. The two exceptions were scores of 47 and 48.

James Anderson to be England’s top bowler in the first innings

Anderson returns to the England squad for the second Test after missing out in Brisbane, and should be straight among the wickets with the pink ball.

He has taken 15 wickets across his last three Tests in Adelaide, including a five-fer when England last toured Australia.

Mitchell Starc to be Australia’s top bowler in the first innings

Starc was outshone by his teammates in Brisbane but should be more involved in the second Test, particularly with Josh Hazlewood ruled out.

The left-armer has taken 30 wickets in his last five Tests at the Adelaide Oval, including four and six in the first innings in his last two games there.
