Michael van Gerwen to beat James Wade –

James Wade climbed to third in the table last week by beating the injured Jelle Klaasen, though Michael van Gerwen is unlikely to let him showcase that knack for punishing off-colour opponents.

The world No. 1 may not have been at his best this campaign, but he still boasts the best checkout percentage in the tournament and is yet to see a single three-dart average dip below the 100 mark.

Wade was actually the last person to beat MVG in the Premier League, on the opening night of last season.

Yet having lost his last six on the bounce against the Dutchman – as well as five of their other six meetings in this competition – it is difficult to see an upset in the evening’s opener.

Gary Anderson to beat Kim Huybrechts –

If you needed any proof of just how competitive this year's Premier League is, then look no further than Gary Anderson's position of seventh.

That is despite the Flying Scotsman boasting both the second-highest number of 180s and the second-best checkout percentage, and only once failing to record a three-figure average.

Such stats suggest that an upturn in fortune is imminent, starting in Manchester against the one player who is yet to win a game this season.

Last week was yet another case of what-if for Kim Huybrechts, who led Adrian Lewis 3-1 before completely losing his rhythm.

Put simply, The Hurricane is running out of steam, so expect Anderson – who has a rare point to prove – to end his faint hopes of survival here.

Peter Wright to beat Phil Taylor –

If there is to be a draw this week, this might just be it.

There has been nothing to choose between this pair in their last 11 games – winning five each and tying the other – while they have also drawn three of their five Premier League games to date.

Interestingly, though, Peter Wright has never lost to Phil Taylor in this competition, having won the other two.

The current form of the pair could also not be further apart, given that Wright has won three on the bounce and Taylor has gone four without a win.

Currently at the peak of his powers and throwing first, Snakebite can be relied upon to take the two points again here.

Adrian Lewis to beat Jelle Klaasen –

Adrian Lewis has turned his season around in the last fortnight, winning back-to-back matches to move within a point of third.

That revival has been driven by more consistent scoring. He has thrown 17 180s in the last three weeks alone – more than Jelle Klaasen has managed in the entire tournament so far.

Like Huybrechts, Klaasen looks doomed after being thrashed by James Wade in Rotterdam last week, and needs to win to have any chance of having something to play for on Judgement Night.

To make matters worse, the Dutchman is suffering with tendonitis in his throwing wrist.

So despite losing four of their last five encounters, it is the resurgent Lewis who should be backed in this one.

Michael van Gerwen to beat Raymond van Barneveld –

Raymond van Barneveld put in one of the performances of his life in Rotterdam last week – averaging 103.71, throwing five 180s and hitting a 156 checkout on his way to beating Gary Anderson 7-2.

He will struggle, though, to maintain such standards against his compatriot Michael van Gerwen, particularly without the support of a 10,000-strong Dutch crowd behind him.

MVG proved in their World Championship semi-final – when Van Barneveld threw the competition’s highest-ever losing average – that he has enough to overcome even an in-form Barney.

And having also won six of their eight previous meetings before that classic encounter, Mighty Mike will relish the chance to claim his place at the top of the table by cashing in on his game in hand.
