Here are Tom Clee's tips to help get you started...

MICHAEL VAN GERWEN v SIMON WHITLOCK

Van Gerwen to win by over 2.5 legs, hit a 100+ checkout and average over 100 –

MVG suffered a shock defeat to Jeffrey de Zwaan at the UK Open last weekend, which makes an upset even less likely on Thursday.

The world No.1 rarely loses twice in a row, and has won 19 of his last 20 meetings with Whitlock.

All three of his victories this season have come by a margin or at least four legs, while his average is yet to drop below three figures.

Having also hit the joint-most 100+ checkouts in the Premier League, this is the best way of extracting value out of a guaranteed win for the Dutchman.

GERWYN PRICE v RAYMOND VAN BARNEVELD

Price to win, under 6.5 match 180s and under 1.5 match 100+ checkouts –

This game has come at a good time for Price, after his encouraging run to the UK Open quarter-finals last weekend – especially as the out-of-form Barney has won just two of his last 18 Premier League matches when throwing second.

These two hit just one 180 between them in Berlin last time out, and have not combined for more than six on any night of the season so far.

They’ve also only managed five ton-plus finishes in eight games.

PETER WRIGHT v MENSUR SULJOVIC

Suljovic to win or draw, both players to average over 100 and hit a 100+ checkout –

Despite an inferior head-to-head record, it is Suljovic – with wins at the World Grand Prix, Champions League of Darts and European Championship – who tends to prevail when this pair meet on the larger stages.

And, after moving out of the bottom two last time out, the Austrian is well capable of taking at least a point off Wright, whose limp defence of his UK Open title saw him knocked out on day one by teenager Nathan Rafferty.

Suljovic has averaged over 100 in three of his four games so far, a figure that Wright hasn’t dropped below since the opening night.

The Gentle has also hit two three-figure finishes last time out to tie with MVG’s total of five, while Snakebite has taken out one of his own the last three weeks in a row. 

GARY ANDERSON v DARYL GURNEY

Anderson to win, hit a 100+ checkout and over 8.5 match 180s –

Anderson claimed a first televised title win in over two years at the UK Open last weekend.

Gurney, on the other hand, was knocked out early by Kim Huybrechts, one of the players to make way for him in the Premier League.

The Northern Irishman remains some way off his best. He is the only Premier League player yet to check out on three figures, whereas Anderson has hit a ton-plus finish in every one of his games so far, including two monsters of 150 and 170.

But expect there to be plenty of 180s, with nobody scoring more than their 17 apiece during the first four weeks of action.

ROB CROSS v MICHAEL SMITH

Cross to win, Smith to hit a 100+ checkout and average under 100 –

Smith has four wins from four, but, aside from an injured Anderson, he’s yet to beat any stellar names on his run to the top of the table.

He’s hit a three-figure finish in each of his matches so far but has still been unable to average over 100.

Cross has won his last two in the Premier League against Wright and Van Barneveld, and continued that revival by getting to the last eight at the UK Open, only losing to the eventual champion Anderson.

Having won five of his six games against Smith, including the last four in a row, Cross is a great bet to bring Bully Boy’s perfect start to an end.
