Here are Tom Clee's tips to help get you started...

PETER WRIGHT v SIMON WHITLOCK

Under 6.5 total 180s, no 100+ checkout in match and both players to average under 100 –

It makes sense to avoid trying to call the result of this opening match, seeing as it pits together this season’s two most inconsistent players, neither of whom have anything to play for.

The safer option is to bank on it being a scrappy encounter, with Whitlock averaging three figures twice all season and Wright coming up short the last 10 weeks in a row.

Maximums are bound to be few and far between, given both these two have hit more than three in a single match just three times all season.

They’ve also failed to hit a 100+ finish in six of their last eight games combined.

ROB CROSS v MICHAEL VAN GERWEN

Van Gerwen to win and hit a 110+ checkout and Cross to hit the most 180s –

Cross has gone three games without a win for the first time all season, and will be relieved he already has a play-off place as good as guaranteed before taking on Van Gerwen.

He’s lost seven of his last eight games with MVG, most recently a 7-2 thrashing on the opening night, and also survived five match darts in the one exception at the World Championship.

The Dutchman has hit 18 ton-plus finishes in his 14 games so far, all but three of which have been clocked at 110 or more.

But his habit of switching to treble 19 means he’s only hit more than three 180s five times all season, whereas Cross has done so in nine of his last 12 matches.

DARYL GURNEY v MICHAEL SMITH

Smith to win and hit the most 180s and Gurney to hit a 100+ checkout –

Smith has won four of his last five meetings with Gurney – including a 7-4 victory in Cardiff back in week two – and is yet to lose to an opponent outside the top four.

He also won’t be bothered by stepping up to the oche second, having won the most legs against the throw of any player this season.

The 180s have dried up for Gurney. He has hit nine in the last fortnight, compared to 12 for Smith.

Gurney’s finishing has gone the other way, though, nailing nine ton-plus checkouts in the space of the last six weeks.

GARY ANDERSON v RAYMOND VAN BARNEVELD

Anderson to win and with a 120+ checkout with over 6.5 total 180s –

Anderson’s winning run was brought to a surprise end against Whitlock last week, but he should get another two points on the board in the final match of the night.

The Flying Scotsman has won 14 of his last 18 matches against Van Barneveld, who was struggling for motivation even before being eliminated last week.

Anderson has hit a ton-plus checkout in all but two of his games so far, including finishes of 120 or more the last five weeks in a row.

He’s been inconsistent on the 180s front – throwing anywhere between two and six all season – but, together with Barney, ought to achieve a total of seven easily.
