Here are Tom Clee's tips to help get you started...

MICHAEL SMITH v GARY ANDERSON

Anderson to win and hit a 100+ checkout with Smith to average under 100 –

Smith enjoyed another productive weekend by getting to the final of the German Darts Open, though he’s still yet to prove he can beat the very best on the Premier League stage.

He’s lost three of his four matches against fellow top-four opponents so far, with his only victory coming courtesy of Anderson’s back trouble on the opening night.

The Flying Scotsman was 5-1 up and on course for a sixth straight win over his former apprentice in that match before being incapacitated, and will no doubt avenge that defeat on Thursday.

He’s hit at least one ton-plus finish in eight of his 10 matches, while Smith has recorded a three-figure average just once all season.

ROB CROSS v DARYL GURNEY

Cross to win, Gurney to hit a 100+ checkout and over 8.5 total 180s –

Cross lost to Gurney in front of a partisan Belfast crowd three weeks ago, but has won seven matches either side of that narrow defeat.

Back on neutral territory, he looks a generous price to end his opponent’s six-match unbeaten run and cement his position in the top four.

Gurney has been throwing 180s for fun all season, with 24 in the last four weeks alone, while Cross is prolific himself.

The Northern Irishman has also improved his finishing, nailing six 100+ checkouts in his last six matches having waited four weeks for his first.

RAYMOND VAN BARNEVELD v SIMON WHITLOCK

Van Barneveld to win, under 5.5 total 180s and both players to average under 100 –

Van Barneveld looked so disinterested during his defeat to Peter Wright last week that he felt compelled to apologise afterwards on Twitter.

But, back in his native Netherlands – where he thrashed Anderson 7-2 last year with the highest checkout, joint-most 180s and a 103 average – he’ll surely make amends.

Whitlock has averaged in the eighties in each of his last two matches, while the only time Barney touched three figures was all the way back in week two.

Neither of these players have been prolific in the 180 stakes, either – managing more than a couple just once each during their last four matches.

PETER WRIGHT v MICHAEL VAN GERWEN

MVG to win by over 2.5 legs, average over 100 and over 1.5 100+ checkouts in the match – 

Wright inflicted Van Gerwen’s only defeat of the season back in week two, but followed that up by going eight games without another win.

Given that MVG has never lost to the same opponent twice in a single Premier League season, Wright is unlikely to repeat the trick.

Van Gerwen has won seven consecutive games by three legs or more, and is yet to see his average dip below three figures all tournament. 

Both these players hit two ton-plus checkouts each last week, so another couple between the pair of them is easily achievable.

ROB CROSS v GARY ANDERSON

Over 11.5 legs, over 7.5 total 180s and a 120+ checkout in the game –

Having been made to look a bit foolish last week by trying to call the final match of the night before the earlier games had taken place, we’ll play it safer this time around.

Whichever way it pans out, this is poised to go the distance – with Anderson’s meeting against MVG the only time that either of these players have failed to register at least five legs in the last eight weeks.

Both are consistent maximum scorers, averaging exactly four per game over the last four weeks.

They can also both finish, hitting at least one 120+ checkout between them in seven of the last eight rounds of fixtures.
