Here are Tom Clee's tips to help get you started...

RAYMOND VAN BARNEVELD v DARYL GURNEY

Gurney to hit the most 180s and a 100+ checkout with both players to average under 100 –

Gurney’s enigmatic campaign – which currently sees him one point off the play-offs despite winning just two of his nine games so far – continued with yet another draw last week.

So, even after Van Barneveld suffered the first whitewash of the season last time out, it’s tough to call a result in this one.

The safe option is to back the Northern Irishman, who is miles clear in the 180s table and has also hit all five of his ton-plus checkouts during the last five weeks, to add to those tallies.

Neither of these two, meanwhile, have averaged three figures since the second round of fixtures.

GARY ANDERSON v PETER WRIGHT

Anderson to win with over 7.5 match 180s and over 10.5 legs in the game –

It’s a shame for Wright that he must play his double-header on the back of a seven-match winless run to end the first stage of the season.

Particularly since he’s taking on Anderson first up, who has beaten him in nine of their 13 matches since the start of 2016.

Six of their eight Premier League meetings have needed 11 legs or more to reach a result, including a 6-6 draw back in February that featured nine 180s.

And, while Anderson tends to be stronger on the maximums front, the fact that Wright has hit 10 in the last fortnight means it makes sense to back them to reach a joint-total.

SIMON WHITLOCK v MICHAEL VAN GERWEN

Van Gerwen to win by over 2.5 legs and average over 100 with a 120+ checkout in the match –

MVG won his seventh consecutive match by a margin of three legs or more last week to end the first phase of the season two points clear at the top of the table.

He also boasts a tournament average of 103.62, having not once dipped below the three-figure mark.

That’s unlikely to change against Whitlock, who has been beaten on 21 of the last 22 occasions that they’ve played each other.

The Aussie missed 23 darts at double last week but still pulled a 164 finish out of the bag, which was the sixth 120+ checkout this pair have managed during the last four rounds of fixtures.

MICHAEL SMITH v ROB CROSS

Cross to win and hit the most 180s with a 100+ checkout in the match –

Smith followed up his 7-0 thrashing of Barney last week by winning the Players Championship Seven in Barnsley on Saturday.

He has, however, already been defeated by Cross once this season – the sixth time he’s lost in seven matches against the current world champion.

Bully Boy has only hit four 180s during his last four matches, during which time Cross has racked up 15 of his own.

There’s also yet to be a week this season where one of these two has failed to hit a three-figure finish.

RAYMOND VAN BARNEVELD v PETER WRIGHT

Van Barneveld to win, Wright to hit the highest checkout and both players to average under 100 –

Van Barneveld has never lost the latter of two Premier League games when required to play twice in the same evening – winning six and drawing one.

He’s also beaten Wright on all three occasions that they’ve met this year, including an impressive 6-4 win in the Players Championship Eight on Sunday and a 7-1 thrashing in this tournament last month.

But his finishing has deserted him somewhat, with no ton-plus checkout during his last four matches.

Wright, on the other hand, has hit one in each of the last two weeks. However, like Barney, he’s not averaged over 100 since February.
