Here are Tom Clee's tips to help get you started...

MICHAEL SMITH v SIMON WHITLOCK

Whitlock to win, Smith to hit most 180s and both players to average under 100 –

This pair were favourites for elimination when the season began, but come into this game joint-top of the table with three wins from three.

Not that either has been fluent, with only one three-figure average between them in six appearances so far.

Whitlock has had to negotiate the tougher fixtures up to this point and, having won both of their meetings last year, the combative Aussie is excellent value to scrap his way past Smith once again.

But Bully Boy currently has more 180s to his name, and his smoother throw should see him pull further ahead in the maximum stakes.

GERWYN PRICE v MENSUR SULJOVIC

Price to win, hit the most 180s and score the highest checkout –

Price’s battling qualities are keeping him in contention, having twice managed to fight back from seemingly hopeless positions to get two points on the board.

Having made the semi-finals of the first Players Championship event in Barnsley at the weekend, the Welshman ought to earn his first win of the season against an opponent he’s already beaten seven times in nine attempts.

Suljovic’s action has been all over the place of late. He failed to hit a single 180 last week and has not checked out more than 86 since the opening night.

Price, on the other hand, found his feet in Newcastle – doubling his tally of maximums and taking out two monster finishes of 148 and 136.

MICHAEL VAN GERWEN v DARYL GURNEY

Van Gerwen to win, hit the highest checkout and over 9.5 180s in the match –

MVG continued his blistering start to the year at the weekend with two Players Championship titles, taking his tally for the season to five before the end of February.

It’s hard to see Gurney – who is yet to win, having failed to close out leads of 5-1 and 5-3 in the opening three weeks – causing an upset in Berlin.

The Northern Irishman is the only player in the competition yet to hit a three-figure checkout, whereas Van Gerwen has bagged four, including a 170 in Dublin.

But he should at least be able to hold his own when it comes to 180s, with Gurney’s tally of six only bettered by MVG’s seven in Newcastle last week.

ROB CROSS v RAYMOND VAN BARNEVELD

Cross to win, both players to hit over 2.5 180s and under 1.5 100+ checkout in the match –

Cross comfortably beat Peter Wright for his first win in this competition last time out, and should pick up where he left off against an out-of-sorts Van Barneveld.

The Dutchman endured a miserable weekend – losing to Jonny Clayton in Barnsley on Friday, before getting knocked out in the early rounds of both Players Championship events in Wigan.

He’s also only won two of his last 17 Premier League matches when throwing second, which bodes well for the world champion, who has won all three of his previous meetings with Barney.

Both tend to be steady 180 scorers but have found big finishes hard to come by, with Barney’s 167 in the second week the only time either has checked out over three figures.

PETER WRIGHT v GARY ANDERSON

Anderson to win, hit most 180s and check out over 100 –

Anderson banished any fears surrounding how competitive he’ll be this season by averaging 100.79 in a thrilling defeat to MVG last week.

And with five wins from the last six meetings between these two, the Flying Scotsman deserves his favourites’ tag in this one.

There is still room for improvement when it comes to finishing, though a memorable 170 in Newcastle maintained his record of hitting at least one three-figure checkout on every night of the season so far.

He’s also clocked up twice as many maximums as Wright, whose scoring power continues to be affected by his proclivity for switching darts.
