JAMIE LEWIS v JAMES RICHARDSON

Jamie Lewis to win the match, hit the most 180s and score the highest checkout –

Jamie Lewis produced the performance of his life to eliminate second seed Peter Wright on Wednesday, hitting a staggering 13 maximums and nailing three checkouts of over 120, all of which were finished with a bullseye.

Richardson has proved a feisty competitor up until now who is quick to capitalise on his opponent’s mistakes.

The problem is that if the Welshman is in anything like the same form as the night before, he simply won’t get a sniff.

PHIL TAYLOR v KEEGAN BROWN

media

Phil Taylor to win the match, hit four 100+ checkouts and both players to average under 100 –

Taylor has breezed through to this point, despite some scratchy form that has seen him fail to register a three-figure average in either of his matches so far.

Brown, meanwhile, only needed a 95 average to beat James Wade in the first round, and dropped into the eighties against Zoran Lerchbacher in the second.

Luckily, in the temporary absence of fearsome scoring, the Power can always fall back on his impressive finishing, with four checkouts of over 100 easily achievable across a minimum of four sets.

GARY ANDERSON v STEVE WEST

media

Gary Anderson to win the match, hit seven 180s and score two 130+ checkouts –

Anderson hit seven maximums in his first-round match against Jeff Smith, and is easily capable of at least matching that tally with a minimum of one extra set to get them in.

That consistency in hitting the treble meant he averaged an incredible 132 in the second set of that match thanks to a string to monster finishes.

Expect the Flying Scotsman to progress serenely, and remind everybody exact why he’s Michael van Gerwen’s biggest threat in the process.
