Stoke to beat Huddersfield

It’s been a horrendous start for Huddersfield, who lost manager Carlos Corberan and key players Harry Toffolo and Lewis O’Brien in the weeks before the season began.

The Terriers have lost three from three in all competitions so far, and were 3-0 down at home to Preston at half-time in the EFL Cup in midweek.

Stoke have won one and lost one of their opening league games, but this tip largely rests on the state of their opponents.

Accrington to beat Burton

No side in the EFL has had a worse start to the season than Burton.

The Brewers lost 2-0 to League Two Rochdale in the EFL Cup in midweek, having lost their opening two league games by an aggregate score of 7-0.

Accrington have taken four points from games against Charlton and Shrewsbury and should make it seven from three here.

Portsmouth to beat Cheltenham

Cheltenham are one of just three teams yet to earn a point in League One.

The Robins have failed to score in any competition since they went 2-0 up at home to Peterborough on the opening day – a game they lost 3-2.

They are still adjusting to new manager Wade Elliott, following Michael Duff’s resignation, and were thumped 7-0 by Exeter in the cup on Tuesday. Portsmouth should be fancied at odds-against.

Bolton to beat Port Vale

Bolton come into this having won back-to-back matches in all competitions, netting eight times.

Ian Evatt’s side have been one of the standout performers so this term and are a great price to beat a team who look unprepared for the season.

Port Vale were thumped 4-0 at Exeter last weekend and followed that with a 2-1 defeat to Rotherham in the cup on Wednesday.

Northampton to beat Hartlepool

Hartlepool have lost 4-0 in both of their away games in all competitions so far this season and are yet to score a goal.

Paul Hartley’s side were hammered at Walsall on the opening day and were knocked out of the EFL Cup away to Blackburn on Wednesday, while they drew 0-0 at home to AFC Wimbledon last weekend.

Northampton have earned four points so far and should justify their tag as one of the more fancied teams in League Two with another victory.
