Fleetwood to beat Port Vale (19:00)

Fleetwood’s 2-1 victory at home to Burton in their League One opener on Saturday extended their 100 per cent start to the season, having also beaten Wigan and Carlisle in cup competitions.

Joey Barton’s side have won six of their last eight matches at Highbury and lost only one in 10 in all competitions.

League Two Port Vale have managed two victories in their last nine EFL Cup or FA Cup ties against sides from a higher division.

Newcastle to beat Blackburn (19:30)

Newcastle got off to a winning start at the weekend with a 2-0 win at West Ham.

The Magpies have won seven of their last 11 cup ties against lower-league sides, and look a decent price to add another to that total.

Blackburn lost 3-2 in their league opener to Bournemouth on Saturday, and had to come from behind against League One side Doncaster before a late penalty gave them victory in the EFL Cup first round.

BTTS in Burton v Aston Villa (19:45)

Just six sides in League One were involved in a higher proportion of BTTS matches than Burton last term, with both teams scoring in 20 of their 35 matches.

Burton’s games have again been entertaining this term, with this bet landing in all three of their matches.

Villa had the second-worst defence in the Premier League in 2019/20, conceding 67 goals, and their BTTS ratio was the fourth-highest in the division.

Plymouth to beat Leyton Orient (19:45)

These sides met twice last season in the league and cup, with Plymouth winning the two matches by an aggregate score of 6-0.

Plymouth have since been promoted to League One and got going with a 1-0 victory over Blackpool at the weekend, having already beaten Championship side QPR in the EFL Cup first round.

Orient have made a decent start too, winning three games out of three in all competitions, but are yet to play a side from above their own level and this price looks too big to ignore.

Sheffield Wednesday to beat Rochdale (19:45)

Rochdale were thumped 3-1 by an inexperienced and supposedly under-prepared Swindon side – who were only able to name five substitutes – on Saturday.

That result follows a tough summer in which Dale lost last season’s top scorer Ian Henderson and creative midfielder Callum Camps, without having replaced either.

Sheffield Wednesday have won five straight cup games against lower-league opposition and should build on Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Cardiff here.
