Macclesfield Town caught the hot potato that is the National League top spot in midweek.

John Askey’s side extended their winning run to three matches thanks to a late winner at Guiseley – taking the number of different leaders of the division into double-figures.

Sometimes the fixture list just throws up a headline for previews like this. For the first time in the 39-year history of this division, no team has managed to string four wins together by the 15th gameday of the season.

The only two teams to go into this weekend with three wins behind them are Macclesfield and Ebbsfleet United, who meet at Moss Rose on Saturday.

Something has to give, but the very nature of the division this season suggests that the match will end a draw – which you can back at – keeping us waiting for the first team to even show a glimmer of title challenging form.

Hartlepool have taken a little bit of time to adjust to life in the National League, and, like many teams we expected to challenge for promotion, have failed to get going.

They’ve only lost on of their last eight games, though, and the teams at the top of the table are by no means running away.

The Monkey Hangers represent a fantastic bet at away at Solihull Moors this weekend.

The Midlands side are in turmoil and have lost five of their last six games. That led to a managerial change and the experienced Richard Money takes over immediately for this clash.

I doubt he’ll have enough time to turn it around, and we’re getting good value backing against the ‘new manager’ effect.

Tranmere will be hoping the last few days isn’t a false dawn, as two wins may have kick-started their attempt to justify pre-season favouritism.

They host Chester on Saturday and look far too short to win a third straight game, so take a chance on their near-neighbours, managed by the impressive Marcus Bignot, to grab a draw at a price of .

Dover Athletic continue to defy the critics and produce results under Chris Kinnear and they should have far too much for struggling Torquay at Plainmoor on Saturday.

Yes, the Gulls managed a long overdue victory in midweek, but Dover are a different proposition to Maidenhead and should be taking all three points back to Kent.

In the evening kick-off, it’s ironic that BT Sport go to Wrexham’s Racecourse Ground for their live game from the National League to mark Non-League Day – a tradition for the second international break of each season.

The Racecourse is the oldest international football ground in the world, but these days is pretty much restricted to ‘Conference’ matches and the odd Stereophonics concert.

The hosts welcome Eastleigh to their historic home in a clash that might be short on goalmouth action: Dean Keates’ Reds are the fourth lowest scorers in the division and boast the meanest defence.

Finding an attacking formation and personnel that works could lead the club back to the Football League for the first time since 2008, but even without that they should still win this live match.

Back a low correct-score of 1-0 at , while a home win also looks like good value at .
