Man City to score over 1.5 first-half goals

Schalke are 14th in the Bundesliga this season, so are comparable to a mid-table Premier League side.

City have scored more than twice against Bournemouth, Everton, Southampton, Wolves, Huddersfield, Burnley, Arsenal and Chelsea since the beginning of December, scoring at least two first-half goals in four of them.

They led 2-0 at Shakhtar at the interval in the group stages, and will be keen to put this tie out of sight quickly so they can rest players in the second leg.

Sergio Aguero to score

Aguero has scored a hat-trick in two of his last three matches, and can extend his excellent form here.

The 30-year-old has scored in five of his last six overall, and in both of his appearances away from home in the group stages.

He netted away at Basel at this stage last season, too, so everything points to another goal here.

Bernardo Silva to score

Bernardo also scored in that match at Basel, as well as in games against Lyon and Shakhtar earlier this season.

Four of his eight City goals this season have come away from home, while he ranks similarly to Leroy Sane for xG and shots inside the penalty area, so should be taken at a bigger price.

Weston McKennie to be carded

A midfielder by trade, McKennie has been lining up as a right-back recently, so is a strong candidate for a card in this one.

The US international has picked up six yellow cards this season, and could struggle in his likely duel with an in-form Raheem Sterling.
