Blackburn to win by one goal

Newcastle are fortunate to still be in the FA Cup after a listless performance in the 1-1 draw between these sides 10 days ago.

Not that you’d know it from Rafa Benitez’s demeanour. The Spaniard is obviously not interested in this competition so, while his teams are rarely blown away, they will likely lose to a Blackburn side that are strong at home.

Bradley Dack to score

Dack gave Rovers the lead in the first tie at St James’ Park, and is the outstanding candidate to hit the net again having scored in four of Blackburn’s last six matches at Ewood Park.

The fact he ranks 10th in the Championship for shots per home game suggests the goals won’t dry up any time soon.

Fabian Schar to be carded

Schar finds himself out of Newcastle’s first-choice Premier League XI, so is a likely starter in this game.

His disciplinary record makes for remarkable reading. In just nine starts for Rafa Benitez’s side this season, he has been carded six times.

Under 3.5 cards

That said, this game is unlikely to prove too tempestuous.

None of Newcastle’s last seven matches have featured more than three cards, while their approach to this tie hardly lends itself to hot-headedness.

There were also no cards in Blackburn’s 2-0 win at Millwall on Saturday.
