Here are five football tips that Will Rook thinks you should consider for Derby v Manchester United on Thursday evening.

Match to go to extra time

Derby have only lost two of their 19 home games in all competitions this season, and both of those defeats were only by a margin of one goal.

The Rams have won five and drawn two of their last seven games at Pride Park, while Manchester United have drawn both of their last two on the road.

Derby to score the first goal

Manchester United have gone behind to Everton and Club Brugge in back-to-back away games.

Derby have opened the scoring in each of their last seven home games and 15 of their last 17. At long odds, this is worth taking on.

Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals

Both teams have scored in all of Derby’s last seven matches, with over 2.5 goals landing in five of them.

Manchester United haven’t failed to score in any of their last five away games, with both teams netting in their last two. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side also put six past League One Tranmere in the previous round.

Wayne Rooney to score

One word: Narrative.

If that doesn’t do it for you, Rooney has also scored three in four appearances at Pride Park and is on free-kick and penalty duty for Derby.

Over 2.5 cards

Manchester United alone have been issued with at least three cards in four of their last five domestic away games.

Six of Derby’s last nine matches have also produced three or more bookings, so this looks a safe bet.
