PSG v Bayern Munich

As with many of Europe’s best sides, these sides’ strengths lie in attack, not defence.

PSG were held to a 0-0 draw at the weekend, but have scored more than four goals per game with Neymar – who should return from injury for this one – in the side.

With Manuel Neuer injured, and replacement Sven Ulreich making a bad start to first-team life in the 2-2 draw with Wolfsburg on Friday, it would be a huge surprise if the hosts didn’t score.

Bayern, though, have scored at least twice in every match bar the defeat at Hoffenheim earlier this month, so are a good bet to fulfil their side of the bargain.

Basel v Benfica

Perhaps not the highest-profile match of the evening, but goals are guaranteed.

Benfica have scored in all of their nine games so far this season, including in an important victory over Pacos Ferreira over the weekend.

Fortunately for Basel, Rui Vitoria’s side have also conceded in four of their last five outings.

Considering that the Swiss hosts have only failed to score at Old Trafford in their last 10 matches, there should also be goals at the other end.

Sporting v Barcelona

A goal for Barcelona at Sporting is, of course, a sure thing.

Ernesto Valverde’s side have improved markedly since their only blank of the season against Real Madrid, putting three past Juventus amid a run of 19 goals in five matches.

Thankfully, Sporting have scored in all of their last seven matches, so can hope of nicking one themselves on the counter-attack.

Sheff U v Wolves

After triumphing in a thrilling Steel City derby on Sunday, Sheffield United will head into this game in high spirits.

That famous victory at Hillsborough contributed to a run of 12 goals in seven matches, and at least one more is likely against Wolves.

Nuno Santo’s visitors have scored eight goals in four matches, but have conceded five in that run.
