Total winnings: £2012.37

Total profit: £342.37

Longest-priced winning pick: Anderlecht v Celtic (13/5)

Celtic beat Anderlecht 3-0 away from home in September to record their first Champions League group-stage victory in four years.

They went on to score just two more goals in the tournament and lose each of their four remaining fixtures.

Biggest let down: Chelsea v Burnley, Tottenham v Swansea, APOEL v Dortmund (2/9)

Burnley’s coupon-busting 3-2 win at defending champions Chelsea on the opening day of the Premier League season was as bad as it got for us.

Unfortunately, Tottenham’s failure to beat Swansea in September and Dortmund’s draw away to APOEL in November were just as bad.

Biggest winner: This Championship five-fold, featuring Cardiff, Middlesbrough, Derby, Wolves and Bolton, rolled in at 35/1 in October and wasn’t bettered for the rest of the season.

Most profitable period: 23/10/17 – 30/10/17 > £490 winnings, £420 profit

The final week in October was the best time to make money, with 14/1 and 35/1 accumulators coming in.

Longest dry spell: 12/12/17 – 09/02/18 > £280 losses

The less said about this, the better.

Most popular picks

Domestic: Wigan

A 98-point haul on the way to the League One title meant Wigan made their way into 23 different accumulators throughout the season.

They did OK, too, winning in 16 of them.

Continental: Lazio

Lazio made it to the quarter-finals of the Europa League and only missed out on Champions League qualification by virtue of their head-to-head record with Inter.

They were picked for 21 separate multiples during the 2017/18 campaign, winning 11.

Most reliable teams

Domestic: Aston Villa

For all the dominance of Manchester City, Wolves and Wigan in their respective divisions, Aston Villa were the most dependable side to bet on.

Steve Bruce’s side won eight out of nine times they were picked, with prices ranging from 4/11 to 7/5.

Continental: Benevento

Benevento made the worst ever start to a Serie A season of any side and were relegated with just 21 points.

The Stregoni lost on 10 of the 11 occasions we backed against them, with the prices between 1/4 and 21/20.

Biggest coupon-busters

Domestic: Derby

Derby enjoyed a decent season, finishing sixth in the Championship before defeat in the play-off semi-final against Fulham.

They weren’t great for punters, though, failing to win five out of the nine times we picked them.

Continental: Barcelona

Despite winning their 25th La Liga title, Barcelona didn’t represent great value this season.

They let us down on six of the 10 occasions we backed them, with their longest price of 6/4.
