Sunderland to win or draw –

It’s worth backing Sunderland to achieve a positive result, even though they have lost back-to-back matches.

The Black Cats played a fringe side at Middlesbrough last Saturday and have lost just one away league game in four.

Cardiff have lost four straight games in the Championship and could only draw 0-0 with League Two Mansfield in the FA Cup last weekend.

No goals in the first half –

Cardiff have taken their time to get going in matches recently, failing to score a first-half goal in their last eight.

Sunderland haven’t been much better, netting just one in their previous four.

Under 2.5 goals –

Cardiff laboured to a goalless draw with Mansfield last Saturday and just two of their last six matches in all competitions have seen three or more goals scored.

Sunderland are also misfiring and haven’t managed to bag more than one goal in a game in 10 attempts.

Lee Peltier to be booked

Peltier has picked up eight yellow cards already this season – the second-most in the Championship – including three in his last four appearances.

If a player is to get booked on Saturday, he looks the likeliest candidate.
