Sheffield United to win & BTTS

Sheffield United lost 1-0 at Nottingham Forest last week, but they remain deservedly heavy favourites for this Steel City derby.

Chris Wilder welcomes back key attacking midfielder Mark Duffy here, with chances for prolific striker Billy Sharp bound to follow. That combination should ensure the Blades win their fifth game in seven at Bramall Lane.

That said, Sheffield Wednesday have been posting better xG numbers (experimental361) than their goal tally suggests in recent weeks. They can extend a decent record of scoring in seven of their nine away games this season.

Billy Sharp to score two or more goals

Sheffield United are bound to create chances against their city rivals, who have already conceded 30 league goals this season – the joint-most in the Championship.

Sharp is the likeliest beneficiary.

The self-proclaimed ‘fat lad from Sheffield’ is the Blades’ top scorer with 11 goals in all competitions and netted a hat-trick against Wigan a fortnight ago in his last appearance at Bramall Lane.

Chris Basham to be carded

Only three players have been carded more often than Basham in the Championship this season, with three of his five cards coming in matches at Bramall Lane.

The centre-half, who was suspended for last week’s defeat at Nottingham Forest, was also booked against the Owls last term.

Barry Bannan to be carded

Bannan is one of those players with more bookings than Basham, having collected seven this season – the joint-most in the league.

The Scotland international was carded against Norwich at the weekend and has picked up three bookings in his last six matches.
