Russia to beat New Zealand –

New Zealand are rank outsiders in this tournament for a reason.

The All Whites are without a win in four and, only made it to Russia after beating Papua New Guinea on penalties in the OFC Nations Cup final.

Russia, meanwhile, have been beaten just four times in 12 on home soil and should have more than enough for a handsome win.

Portugal to beat Mexico –

Portugal warmed up for the Confederations Cup with a 3-0 win over Latvia, their seventh victory from nine and fifth in a row in competitive matches.

Mexico are looking good, too, but their inability to finish games off will haunt them.

When Juan Carlos Osorio’s side won the 2015 Gold Cup, they only managed to win two out of six in normal time.

They were also spanked 7-0 in the 2016 Copa America quarter final. Gulp.

Chile to beat Cameroon –

Back-to-back Copa America champions Chile have won eight of their last 11 tournament matches in 90 minutes.

They are also coming into the Confederations Cup in reasonable shape, having lost just twice in 10.

Against a Cameroon side that have lost two of their last three since winning the African Cup of Nations, they should stroll to victory.

Germany to beat Australia –

Things aren’t about to get any easier for Australia, who are fresh from being honked 4-0 by Brazil.

The Soccerroos have managed just two wins from their last seven matches, against minnows UAE and Saudi Arabia.

Even against a weakened Germany, they don’t stand a chance.

Die Mannschaft beat San Marino 7-0 last week and are unbeaten in 10, winning eight of those.
