Here are four football tips that Guy Giles thinks you should consider for England v Republic of Ireland on Thursday night.

England to win to nil

England lost their most recent match – a 1-0 defeat by Denmark at Wembley – but should have little trouble against an Ireland side in terrible form.

The Boys in Green are yet to win a match under Stephen Kenny, and have failed to score in each of their last four.

Under 3.5 goals

England are yet to be involved in a high-scoring match this year, with none of their last five seeing more than three goals scored.

Ireland, meanwhile, have seen just four goals scored in total across their last five.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin to score

With a couple of Nations League matches coming up against Belgium and Iceland, England boss Gareth Southgate is likely to field an experimental line up on Thursday.

Everton striker Calvert-Lewin is likely to get his third international start and, having scored 12 goals for club and country this season, looks a good bet to get on the scoresheet here.

Over 8.5 total corners

England have averaged six corners per match across their last five, so should account for most of this themselves.

Ireland have averaged more than four corners over the same period, so have more than enough to make up any deficit.
