Colorado Rapids host F.C. Dallas on Friday night in the third MLS meeting between the two sides this season, with both looking to end poor runs of form at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.

But with both teams struggling to score goals, it will be difficult for either to pick up all three points in what looks set to be a tight contest.

The Rapids have not won in their last three and have worryingly failed to win in 26 of their last 28 MLS games.

One of their only two wins this season came against F.C. Dallas back in early April as Colorado stunned the Texan side 4-0 at Toyota Stadium. They have won just once in nine attempts since that game though and are still rooted to the bottom of the Western Conference after 15 weeks.

Dallas are eight points better off in sixth place but have seen their early Supporters’ Shield hopes fade rapidly in recent times.

Oscar Pareja’s side have not won in their last five, though Friday’s game in Colorado will be the last of a tough five-game away streak, so things should start to improve when they can return home next weekend.

They have not beaten Colorado in the two previous meetings this term, with the 4-0 home loss followed up by a 1-1 draw at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in late April.

More worryingly for FCD is the fact that they have failed to score in their last three games and have netted just once in their last five matches.

Colorado have been equally poor in front of goal and have the worst offensive record in MLS this season with just 11 goals in 14 games.

Kevin Doyle’s arrival has yet to spark an improvement in front of goal with the Irishman yet to get off the mark.

With both teams in poor form and lacking confidence, a 0-0 draw could be a good value bet at 9/1.

If there are going to be goals, they’re likely to come late as the Rapids’ last three goals have come in the second half, while Dallas have only managed to find the net in the first 45 minutes seven times this season.

In the last two games FCD have scored in, all of their goals have come in the second half so for those of you who can’t see it ending goalless, it might worth backing the sides to be drawing at halftime and either team to go on and win at 11/5.

Recommended bets:

Colorado Rapids and FC Dallas to draw 0-0 @ 9/1

Match to be a draw at halftime and either team to win @ 11/5
