Stoke v Manchester United

Considering that Manchester United have failed to win any of their last four matches at Stoke, it is fair to say that this is their trickiest task of the season so far.

Jose Mournho’s side – who were also held to a draw by the Potters at Old Trafford last season – were frustrated by Leicester’s resolve last time out, too, while their 4-0 victory over Swansea the week before was far more competitive than the scoreline suggests.

If that pattern continues, then the first dropped points of the season could be in the offing on Saturday evening.

Stoke, meanwhile, have already beaten Arsenal at home this season, so their price of to avoid defeat in this one is appealing.

Southampton v Watford

Watford are a mythbuster for the third time in four Premier League Gameweeks, and it is entirely justified.

The Hornets have already defied two odds-on favourites this season, Bournemouth and Liverpool, and have every chance of doing the same at St Mary’s this weekend.

Southampton were held to a 0-0 draw at home to Swansea – as they were away at Huddersfield last time out – and relied on more than a fair slice of luck to beat West Ham in between.

Valencia v Atletico Madrid

The good times may be creeping back at Valencia.

New manager Marcelino has them on the right path, as proven by a start to the season that has seen them beat Las Palmas and secure a draw away at Real Madrid, a rare commodity for any side.

Atletico Madrid, meanwhile, recovered their dodgy start at Girona with a thumping win of their own over Las Palmas last week, but this is a totally different task.

Diego Simeone’s side have won just three of their last eight away league matches, and are available at not to beat a resurgent sleeping giant.

Sampdoria v Roma

Sampdoria were a successful mythbuster before the international break, winning away at Fiorentina, so we’re backing them to do the business again.

That victory preserved their 100 per cent record coming into September, and Marco Giampaolo’s side have nothing to fear from Roma in their quest to make it three wins from three.

Eusebio Di Francesco’s new side scored with their only shot on target in wining away at Atalanta on the first weekend of the season, before squandering a lead to lose to Inter Milan last time out.

Sampdoria are available at to take advantage of their visitor’s toothless start and secure at least a point.

Sheffield Wednesday v Nottingham Forest

Sheffield Wednesday’s inauspicious start to the season should continue at Hillsborough this weekend.

The Owls failed to build on a promising mid-August victory at Fulham by losing at Bolton and surrendering a lead at Burton in the last week before the international break, ensuring that they have just one league win and are out of the EFL Cup inside a month of the season.

And Nottingham Forest should be buoyed by a good start of their own, featuring victory over highly-fancied Middlesbrough and at Newcastle in the EFL Cup.
