Arsenal not to draw a match 0-0

Premier League matches involving Arsenal last season saw an average of 3.26 goals per game, an entertainment factor that was only bettered by Bournemouth.

Spurs, meanwhile, were the only other top-flight team not to be involved in a single 0-0, though that had more to do with the binary nature of their results than any obvious strengths or weaknesses.

And, based on the Gunners' transfer activity, it's hard to see why things should be any different this time around.

Club-record signing Nicolas Pepe should provide an added edge to an attack that was already the third-most potent in the division.

But, all while Shkodran Mustafi remains on the books, Arsenal's defence will continue to be mid-table at best.

Jose Holebas to break the all-time Premier League cards record

After equalling the Premier League cards record (14) in 2016/17, and falling two short last year, you might think that Watford’s Jose Holebas will rein things in this season.

Happily, Holebas has announced that he "doesn’t care" about his extraordinary disciplinary record.

Team-mate Etienne Capoue accrued 14 yellows for the unruly Hornets last season, so we can expect the full-back to aim big this time around: claiming the all-time record for himself.

Two or more players to share the Golden Boot...again

Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could not be separated last season, all three finishing on 22 Premier League goals.

With players such as Harry Kane, Sergio Aguero and Jamie Vardy also in the picture, it is set to be another tight race for the Golden Boot in 2019/20. 

New signings Sebastian Haller, Joelinton and Patrick Cutrone could complicate things further, so another shared trophy come May looks a good bet.

All three promoted sides to stay up

Wolves’ seventh-placed finished last season, and Newcastle coming 10th in 2017/18, prove that promoted sides can do better than immediately going straight back down.

And, given the state of some of the bottom half, this year’s cohort can at least be hopeful of survival.

Crystal Palace could be without their two best players from last season, Newcastle have parted ways with one of the best managers in the division and Brighton look in similar shape to this time three months ago.

There have been 36 promoted sides to stay up in their first season in the Premier League over the last 20 years. That should be 39 next year.

Jamie Vardy to score 20+ goals

Vardy proved last season that he's among the most formidable forwards in the league when Leicester aren't in a period of managerial turmoil.

The England international scored 18 Premier League goals despite spending most of the campaign featuring under a manager who didn't play to his strengths, and netted 10 in 11 games after Claude Puel was sacked in February.

That run was his most prolific since he scored in 11 successive matches back in 2015.

Vardy clearly isn't slowing down.

He’s finished among the league's top five scorers in three of the last four seasons, so winning the Golden Boot isn't far off, particularly given that three players split the honour with just 22 goals this term.

With all of the top-six sides splitting their goals between two or more forwards, Vardy has a chance to outscore them all in a full season under Brendan Rodgers.
