These are the three players that you should ignore and three players that you should select for Game Week 1.

THREE OUT

Son Heung-min

Son might seem an appealing pick as a striker, but there are several cheaper forwards who are better options for week one.

The South Korean is to score against Everton on Saturday, so – despite being the cheaper option – should not be used as a penny-pinching alternative to Harry Kane.

Kane is to score, while some other alternatives are discussed below.

Thiago Silva

Silva is priced up as the most expensive Chelsea defender on Dream Team (£3.5m), but it is certainly worth holding fire on the Brazilian for a while.

Chelsea are to keep a clean sheet at Brighton on Monday, less likely than Liverpool and Arsenal – both of whom have cheaper defensive options than Silva.

All of Frank Lampard’s defenders bar Andreas Christensen are at least as likely to score, too, with Marcos Alonso particularly short to do so.

Christian Pulisic

Pulisic is another Chelsea asset that you shouldn’t consider this weekend.

The USA international is the third-most expensive midfielder on the game but is out at to score against Brighton, hardly more likely than several cheaper midfield options.

If you want a Chelsea forward, you’re best off reading on.

THREE IN

Timo Werner

Werner is available at to score on his Chelsea debut, so is clearly an attractive pick for the first weekend.

The German is cheaper on Dream Team than Raul Jimenez and Son Heung-min, both of whom are less likely to score.

If Werner is this likely to net in a tricky away game, he is going to be extremely likely to score in easier home games, so he is worth picking now and sticking with.

Danny Ings

If Ings’ price to score on the opening weekend of the season is anything to go by, his excellent 2019/20 season was no fluke.

The striker is to score away at Crystal Palace on Saturday, in what is traditionally a difficult game for visiting centre-forwards.

Priced the same as Werner (£4m), Ings is better value than several more expensive forwards.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Aubameyang looks like the player to pick above all others this weekend.

The Arsenal captain is available at just to score against Fulham, shorter than anybody else in the division.

Only Raheem Sterling is more expensive than Aubameyang, but he is well worth the outlay.
