Big decisions:

It’s been a tricky week, with no free hit, no wildcard, a double gameweek to plan for and the need to bring in Harry Kane.

I’ve sacrificed Romelu Lukaku to bring in the Tottenham striker, also cutting ties with Nicolas Otamendi to free up some cash for that move.

James Tarkowski is a shrewd addition at the back, given that Burnley are the only team in the league to play twice this week and once next week as well.

Kane is my choice as captain, but I’ve stopped short of tripling him up as his fixtures in the second DGW of the season look much tastier.

Team: The Cleegulls

Big decisions:

Now feels like the right time to make my move, so I’m playing my free hit.

My tactic is simple: fill the starting 11 with the best possible combination of players who have a double gameweek.

That means bringing in Romelu Lukaku and Jamie Vardy up top to join Harry Kane in what is a fearsome-looking strike force.

Dele Alli and Willian offer extra goal threat from midfield, while Antonio Rudiger and Wes Morgan have a decent chance of keeping some clean sheets to keep me ticking over.

My bench is as cheap as it comes, but hopefully that won’t matter. It’s boom or bust.

Manager: Adam Drury

Team name: Another New Dawn

Big decisions:

I could have prepared for this double gameweek better but, after sacrificing four points, I’ve managed to scramble together seven players who will (hopefully) play twice.

Arsenal are evidently focusing on the Europa League and face a difficult game at Newcastle, so I have no issue replacing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang with Romelu Lukaku.

Manchester United have nice fixtures, so the Belgian captains the team. I’ve risked going without Mohamed Salah, and brought Paul Pogba into midfield.

There will be a few tears next week, with seven of this team in FA Cup semi-final action. Maybe I’ll remember to plan it properly next season.

Team: Sheffield Old Boys

Big decisions:

In an attempt to stop my season petering out into nothingness, I’m playing my triple captain.

Harry Kane’s desperate to make up the gap to Mohamed Salah in the Golden Boot standings, and I rate his chances.

It makes sense to take a punt on him, given that it’s a double gameweek for Tottenham and he’s already resorted to sacrificing his daughter for goals.

Elsewhere, I’ve used my one transfer of the week to swap out the injured Ben Mee and bring in Andy Robertson.

Here’s hoping I’m in the hunt for a top-four spot this time next week.

Manager: Tom Bowles

Team: Pascal Vegan

There are no big decisions to make when, like me, you’re marooned in mid-table mediocrity.

Christian Eriksen for Kevin De Bruyne is my only change.

Eriksen is in great nick, having scored twice at Stoke last weekend (in the eyes of FPL, at least), and has a double game week against Manchester City and Bournemouth respectively.

It’s for that reason that I’m triple captaining Harry Kane, who’s due a goal, especially one that he doesn’t need to swear on his daughter’s life to claim.

Romelu Lukaku, who flourishes against lowly-opposition, has games against West Brom and Bournemouth to look forward to, while Marko Arnautovic will relish facing his old club Stoke at the London Stadium on Monday night.
