My planning for this double gameweek has paid off, with Mo Salah the only player in my starting line-up who isn’t playing twice.

I’ve dropped Roberto Firmino after another goalless week in the Premier League and brought in Gabriel Jesus, who’s an obvious choice given how City are playing.

That move has been funded by an all-City swap of Kevin de Bruyne for Raheem Sterling, who has scored double figures in each of his last three matches.

Jesus doesn’t get my triple-captain’s armband, though, as I’ve decided to keep faith in Harry Kane.

The Spurs striker hasn’t been at his best recently, but I remember when he scored seven goals in four days at the end of last season and I’d kick myself if he did the same this week and I hadn’t made him my skipper.

Team: The Cleegulls

With one goal in his last six games and after being benched and booked in his last appearance, Glenn Murray is not the man to have up top in a double gameweek – particularly when going up against Man United and Man City.

He’s replaced by Olivier Giroud, with Edimilson Fernandes helping me to make up the £0.8m deficit.

My biggest decision of the week is who to entrust with my triple-captain armband.

Kane is the obvious choice, but Newcastle have only conceded 10 goals in their last 11 games and West Brom three in four under Darren Moore.

For that reason, I’m giving it to Gabriel Jesus.

City will surely let loose with home games against two of the top flight’s worst travelling sides and, provided Pep Guardiola doesn’t go too wild with his rotation, the Brazilian ought to be in the thick of it.

I’ve got some catching up to do, so it seems a risk worth taking.

Team: Another New Dawn

I’m pretty pleased to have only sacrificed eight points to get this XI out for the week we have all been looking at for a while.

With Romelu Lukaku missing, I’ve risked selecting Marcus Rashford.

Jose Mourinho has shown little inclination to use anybody else through the middle when resting Lukaku this term, so I’m hoping that pays off.

There are bankers all over the pitch elsewhere, perhaps barring Jan Bednarek and Florian Lejeune, for whom even just one clean sheet would be a bonus.

I have tentatively named Harry Kane as my treble captain, though a late switch to Gabriel Jesus or Raheem Sterling is admittedly possible.

I just wish I could trust Pep Guardiola to pick them in both matches.

Team: Sheffield Old Boys

I’ve taken another eight-point hit and used my Bench Boost this week so I can wring every last bit of value out of the double gameweek.

Out goes the injured Romelu Lukaku along with Joel Coleman and Chancel Mbemba, who were just taking up spots on the bench.

In come Lukasz Fabianski, Ben Chilwell and Gabriel Jesus – all of whom play twice in the coming week and have relatively favourable fixtures.

I’m also tentatively giving Jesus the armband because, as long he starts both games, he should pick up a hatful of points at home to Huddersfield and Brighton.

Raheem Sterling could sway me late on, having scored 10 points or more for three consecutive weeks.

Harry Kane, meanwhile, doesn’t inspire me with confidence with two goals in his last seven, so I’m hoping I can steal a march on a few people.

Team: Pascal Vegan

I’ve saved my Bench Boost for what is effectively a double gameweek, as only three of my 15-man squad are not in action twice.

Chris Smalling has started every Premier League game he has been fit for since September, and has three goals in as many away games.

He comes into the side for Manchester United’s trips to Brighton and West Ham.

So, too, does Arthur Masuaku, who is cheap, while I’ve taken a four-point hit to replace Newcastle’s second-choice goalkeeper Rob Elliot with Swansea No. 1, Lukasz Fabianski.

The biggest decision to make this week is the captaincy. It’s risky not giving it to Harry Kane, but he has looked lethargic since returning from injury.

I’ve gone for Gabriel Jesus, who has netted in his last four matches in all competitions and is likely to add to that with Manchester City at home to Huddersfield and Brighton.
