The City Ground hosts Premier League action on Friday night as Nottingham Forest and Sheffield United look to get points on the board.

Forest are back on home soil where they performed well last season and will be heartened by their fightback in last Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Arsenal.

United, meanwhile, threw in an opening-weekend no-show, subsiding to a tame 1-0 loss to a Crystal Palace side who were there for the taking.

There is precious little love lost between Forest and United whose last meeting 15 months ago ended in drama and controversy in a Championship play-off semi-final second leg.

Forest can edge grudge match

Of the two managers, there is no doubt Reds boss Steve Cooper will be the happier after what unfolded last weekend.

Forest were played off the park for long periods at Arsenal, a place they crashed 5-0 last season. That scoreline could easily have been repeated except that the meticulous Cooper made tweaks, made substitutions and a more mature Forest not only didn't subside but actually finished strongly.

United, meanwhile, mustered just a solitary effort on target in a meek defeat by Palace and while both managers could do with reinforcements, Paul Heckingbottom's need looks the greater.

He can introduce Gus Hamer and Tom Davies and maybe even fit-again Oli McBurnie to add some muscle in attack.

But Forest can start with Taiwo Awoniyi – scorer of seven in his last five – and Anthony Elanga, two speedsters who made such an impact off the bench in north London.

Forest have scored in each of their last eight assignments and lost only two of their last seven. Take them to win in a game featuring under 3.5 goals.

Lowe will get stuck in

Only West Ham and Wolves made more tackles than Sheffield United last week, who totted up eight in their 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace.

Top of the shop was Max Lowe with eight, the midfielder tested to the limit by Joel Ward, Jordan Ayew and Ebe Eze.

Lowe will again earn his salary this week up against any combination, which Cooper can perm from Danilo, Anthony Elanga, Brennan Johnson and the marauding Serge Aurier.

Gibbs-White to let fire

This is a big fixture for Forest flier Morgan Gibbs-White, who was playing for the Blades when these clubs met in that dramatic play-off semi-final 15 months ago, a match which the Tricky Trees won in a penalty shootout.

Gibbs-White scored in normal time in that match and then missed the decisive penalty but has gone on to become an absolute superstar both for Forest and England Under-21s.

Gibbs-White was one of Forest's huge pluses in their survival campaign and no player fired off more shots for the Reds than the 23-year-old, 59 in total.

At the Emirates last weekend Gibbs-White managed to get one effort away, hardly an awful return given the visitors only saw 22 percent of the ball.

It will be a different game on Friday night when Gibbs-White can set his sights on Wes Foderingham's goal.
