Chelsea, Peterborough, Wigan and Hoffenheim to win: £5 at 19/4

Backing Chelsea to win at Crystal Palace is self-explanatory, while Peterborough and Wigan both have very presentable home matches in League One.

Hoffenheim have won more points at home than any other Bundesliga team so far, and I expect them to round off this four-fold.

Swansea, Sheffield Wednesday, Norwich, Oldham and Coventry to win: £5 at 91/1

This is a huge price, but I think each of the picks represent good value.

Huddersfield’s opening-day win at Crystal Palace appears less impressive now than then, particularly considering the Terriers have not even scored a goal away from home since.

Sheffield Wednesday and Norwich both ended the last batch of games strongly, while Coventry have won five of their last seven league games.

Oldham are the surprise inclusion, but they have won two league games out of two under Richie Wellens, and score goals freely.

Chelsea, Man City, Tottenham and Leicester to win: £10 at 3/1

My safety-first approach has seen me climb to second in the table – despite playing three fewer matches than everyone else – so there’s no reason to change my tactics.

Chelsea and City should beat Crystal Palace and Stoke comfortably, while I also expect Spurs to register their maiden league win at Wembley against Bournemouth.

Leicester City have had a tough run of fixtures, but I fancy them to edge out West Brom to claim their first league win since August.

Leeds, Wigan and Notts County all to win: £10 at 5/1

I’ve been guilty of frittering away my funds during the last few weeks, so have set my sights slightly lower in order to stop the rot.

Wigan are one of the safest bets going this weekend with six wins in their last seven ahead of the visit of a Southend side who concede goals for fun away from home.

Leeds had a bit of a wobble before the international break with three away defeats in a row, but are still unbeaten at Elland Road and should breeze past a Reading team that have completely lost their mojo.

Finally, I went to watch Barnet last weekend and it was obvious how badly they’ve been crippled by injuries.

Their poor away record is unlikely to improve against Notts County, who have won eight of their last 11.

Juventus, Barcelona and Chelsea to win: £10 at 9/2

Juventus have won five of five at home this season and are yet to concede a goal, so I’m pretty confident they’ll see off Lazio even though the visitors are in decent form themselves.

Barcelona are a riskier pick away at Atletico, but they’ve just got to be backed having won nine of nine in all competitions, scoring 27 goals and conceding two.

I’ve thrown in Chelsea at the end to beef up the odds. Even with summer signing Alvaro Morata out injured they’ll surely thrash Palace.
