West Ham were below their best in their FA Cup third-round encounter at Shrewsbury nine days ago, but Tuesday's replay should see them make amends for that performance.

The Hammers are likely to face another tough test, though.

Paul Hurst’s side are well-organised and have built their League One promotion push on having an excellent defence, conceding just 18 times in 26 matches.

The Shrews, however, are better at the back than they are going forward, with no side in the top six having scored fewer than their 34 goals.

West Ham kept a clean sheet at the New Meadow – with Joe Hart making several fine stops against his former club – and will be confident of doing so again.

They should also enjoy the majority of possession on their own patch.

And while David Moyes is likely to make several changes, the side he puts out will still be more than capable of making the breakthrough.

Andre Ayew has been something of a cup specialist this season, starting all five of the club’s cup fixtures and scoring three times in the process.

No other player has scored more non-Premier League goals, which makes Ayew – who is likely to operate as a forward – the Hammers’ likeliest threat.
