FRANCE v PERU

Paulo Guerrero –

Peru impressed in their 1-0 defeat to Denmark on Saturday, and the return of their captain to the starting XI should ensure that they convert a fast start into a goal.

Guerrero nearly scored when introduced as a substitute in that match, benefitting from a supply line featuring Christian Cueva and Andre Carillo, both of whom impressed.

France, by contrast, started lethargically against Australia, and will be punished if they do the same against a better side.

ARGENTINA v CROATIA

Andrej Kramaric –

An own goal opened the scoring for Croatia against Nigeria on Saturday, but Kramaric was the attacker who came closest to getting a touch for himself.

The Hoffenheim forward excelled in the opening stages of that victory, much more so than Ivan Perisic and Mario Mandzukic, and can score his fifth goal in nine internationals on Thursday.

Argentina were shambolic at the back against Iceland, and could be found out by a much better opponent.

BRAZIL v COSTA RICA

Gabriel Jesus –

Brazil should put their 1-1 draw with Switzerland behind them by hitting Costa Rica from all angles, so picking out the player likeliest to break the deadlock is a difficult task.

But, having scored five goals in his last eight internationals, Jesus is a safe bet.

The Manchester City striker has scored six goals in his last 10 matches for club and country, four of which were the first in the match.

SERBIA v SWITZERLAND

Ricardo Rodriguez –

Switzerland have lost just one of their last 18 matches, so siding with a Serbia player doesn’t hold much value here.

Instead, it could be well worth considering Swiss defender Ricardo Rodriguez.

The AC Milan left-back has scored three penalties in his last 10 internationals – and also netted from open play against Spain at the start of the month – so is a decent bet to repeat the trick in a tournament where spot-kicks are being awarded regularly.
