Both of the goals Morocco have conceded in this tournament have come from set-pieces, so Ramos is certainly worth considering as a first goalscorer.

The captain opened the scoring by heading in a free-kick in his side’s qualifier against Liechtenstein in September, and scored four goals in Real Madrid’s last 13 league games of the season.

He also netted four penalties for club and country last season, and will surely put himself forward to extend that run, despite David Silva being former manager Julen Lopetegui’s nominated taker.

IRAN v PORTUGAL

Mehdi Taremi -

Portugal’s record of four goals from five shots on target is surely unsustainable, even for Cristiano Ronaldo, so it’s worth trying to find a point of difference.

And, in the absence of an obvious alternative, Iran midfielder Mehdi Taremi catches the eye.

The 25-year-old ended his club season at Al Gharafa with three goals in two games, and went as close as anyone to scoring for his side against Spain.

DENMARK v FRANCE

Antoine Griezmann -

France improved against Peru with the return of Olivier Giroud to the starting XI, and Griezmann is the best bet to benefit from the presence of his strike partner.

The Atletico forward opened the scoring from the penalty spot in Les Bleus’ opener – and that method is a possibility again – but was much more involved in open play in the second game, including a spurned chance to break the deadlock in the first half.

Denmark have been mediocre so far, and will find it difficult to live with this step up in opposition.

NIGERIA v ARGENTINA

Lionel Messi -

Nigeria are struggling for attacking inspiration so, for all of Argentina’s problems, it’s logical to side with one of their attackers.

And, there must be some value in going for Messi, given lots of players might be put off by his recent struggles.

The 30-year-old has a history of dragging his side through seemingly irreversible trouble, having scoring a hat-trick in his side’s must-win qualifier against Ecuador in October.

Back him to step it up against poor opposition.
