Colombia v Japan: No

Colombia’s last two matches, against Australia and Egypt, both finished 0-0, and another low-scoring game looks likely in their World Cup opener.

Japan beat Paraguay 4-2 last time out but failed to score in their previous two matches, against Ghana and Switzerland – both of which finished 2-0.

Akira Nishino’s side conceded just seven goals in 10 Asian qualifying games, and could frustrate the talented Colombians.

Poland v Senegal: Yes

Poland bagged 28 goals in 10 games in European World Cup qualifying, led by Robert Lewandowski, with his 16 strikes the most of any player.

They also kept just two clean sheets – one at home to Kazakhstan and one away at Romania – and have conceded in four of their last five matches.

Expect goals at both ends when they play Senegal, who lost 2-1 to Croatia and beat South Korea 2-0 in their final two warm-up fixtures.

Russia v Egypt: No {ODDS:216769175:13/20}

Russia beat Saudi Arabia 5-0 in the tournament’s curtain raiser, but that scoreline flattered the hosts, who had failed to score in three of their last six games prior to that match.

They did keep a clean sheet on Thursday, and shouldn’t have much trouble keeping out an Egypt side that have only scored one goal in their last five games (and that was against Kuwait).

The Pharaohs have been poor without Mohamed Salah – who sat out their opener – and they can’t be backed to find the net until he proves he’s anywhere close to his best.
