SWEDEN V ENGLAND

England to win –

England needed penalties to see off Colombia on Tuesday night, but were seconds from winning in normal time before Yerry Mina’s 93rd-minute equaliser.

The Three Lions should get the job done earlier against Sweden, who edged Switzerland 1-0 in a cagey last-16 tie.

Sweden have won three of their four games at the World Cup and this one should be tight, but their 2-1 defeat to Germany in the group stage suggests they will come up short here against another good side.

BTTS: No –

That defeat to Germany was the only one of Sweden’s four matches so far that has seen goals at both ends of the pitch.

In fact, Janne Andersson’s side have only scored and conceded in one of their last seven games, with five of those finishing 0-0 or 1-0.

This tie should be similarly low-scoring, given only momentary lapses in concentration have prevented England from achieving a clean sheet so far.

RUSSIA V CROATIA

Draw –

Russia have already defied expectations by reaching the quarter-finals of their home World Cup, having eked out a win on penalties against Spain in the last 16.

They are capable of avoiding defeat in normal time against a Croatia side that were nowhere near their best when drawing with Denmark on Sunday.

Croatia looked great when they beat Argentina 3-0 in the group stage but struggled to break the Danes down, which could be a recurring problem against the defensive hosts.

BTTS: Yes –

Croatia have scored in all four of their World Cup games so far, netting eight goals in total.

They’ve also failed to keep clean sheets in their last two against Iceland and Denmark, neither of whom were as good going forward as Russia have been in this tournament.

The hosts have bagged nine goals across their four matches, failing to find the net in just one of those, and still managed to score against Spain despite only having one shot on target.
