Casey led the European Open after round one in his last start and went on to win by a single shot.

That was no fluke, as the Englishman opened with a 66 in his previous start at the TOUR Championship, which was the joint-second best score of the first round.

Casey has shaken off his reputation for failing in contention with three wins since March 2018, and he is capable of adding to that tally at an event he won back in 2009.

Going back-to-back is difficult, though, so it’s worth backing him with our first-round leader offer in case he starts well but fades later on.

Schwab finished second to Casey at the European Open, having also been just a shot behind the eventual champion at the end of the first round.

The 24-year-old has now finished inside the top 10 in three successive starts and was inside the top two after the first round in two of those.

Schwab is making his debut at Wentworth this week and looks well-suited to the course as he ranks 19th in greens in regulation, 21st in shots gained from tee to green and second in scrambling on the European Tour this year.

Green opened with a 67 at the KLM Open last week to be joint-second at the end of the first round, extending an incredible run of fast starts.

The Malaysian’s first-round record over his past eight starts now reads T2-T6-T7-1-T29-T10-T2-T6.

Green is yet to win on the European Tour and has only played once at Wentworth, but he just has to be backed in the first round until his form cools off.
